Senior Fire Engineer

Overview

In this role you lead fire strategy and building control assessments for complex, high‑risk projects, guiding proposals from concept to completion. You will use specialist software to evaluate QDRs, fire strategies and CFD models, working with developers and advisors to ensure regulatory compliance. You’ll share expertise through technical presentations and mentor colleagues, while managing your workload to meet service standards in a collaborative environment that values client relationships and professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire strategy and building control assessments for complex, high‑risk, high‑value projects
• Utilize specialist software to assess QDRs, fire strategies and CFD models
• Collaborate with developers, builders and professional advisors from concept to completion
• Deliver technical presentations to internal and external audiences
• Support training, coaching and mentoring of colleagues
• Manage own workload to meet service level expectations
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements

Key requirements

• Expert Fire Engineer with membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers preferred
• Deep knowledge of fire engineering and smoke control solutions
• Strong familiarity with Smoke Control Association guidance and relevant British Standards
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proactive, self‑motivated with a collaborative mindset
