Overview
In this role you will join the Planning and Infrastructure Consenting Team in Exeter to handle major planning work and related matters. You will advise on large-scale developments, energy and infrastructure projects, and planning obligations, supporting housebuilders, land promoters, and authorities. You will manage your own caseload with high responsibility and collaborate across offices. The position offers close partner interaction, growth opportunities, and a focus on clean energy and climate-related development. You will shape planning strategy and policy while delivering high-value, client-focused outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Work on large-scale strategic development and nationally significant energy projects
- Advise on planning obligations, CIL, and highways matters
- Support acquisitions and disposals for property teams
- Counsel on contentious planning issues including enforcement and judicial reviews
- Manage own caseload with high-quality, high-value work in collaboration with partners
Key requirements
- At least 4 years’ PQE in planning law
- Experience with national/regional or city firms
- Exposure to residential development and energy planning is desirable
- Strong communication, technical and organisational skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Strong client relationship building and business understanding of commercial objectives
- Interest in planning policy, development, and energy/infrastructure sector
- Self-motivated, ambitious, and keen to grow professionally
- Passion for supporting clean energy and climate-related development is valued
