Lead Systems Engineer

Overview

As Lead Systems Engineer, you define and validate system architecture for Military Satellite Communications (Milsatcom) programs, including space, control, and ground segments. You will collaborate with engineering leads to shape technical direction and support tender opportunities with the UK MOD, delivering traceable MBSE-based solutions. You’ll mentor colleagues, drive cross-functional collaboration, and contribute to future-focused, secure space and defense capabilities. This role offers growth into expert or chief engineer levels within a mission-driven Airbus team.

Responsibilities

• Capture and define requirements from stakeholders to sub-systems; own traceability and verification
• Collaborate with Engineering Leads and Partners to define segment and sub-system architectures via Integrated Working Groups
• Provide Systems Engineering and project management inputs to support planning, schedule and cost activities
• Inform stakeholders on progress and problem resolution, including technical proposal inputs

Key requirements

• MBSE experience and use of appropriate MBSE tools
• Understanding of satellite portfolios, including platforms, payloads, satellite control, mission control, and network control
• Ability to shape technology direction and help colleagues grow technically
• Security clearance: UK Eyes Only SC or ability to obtain
