Overview
As an AD/PD Quantity Surveyor in our Defence arm, you will lead cost management for complex commissions, interfacing with clients to deliver value and manage cost performance. You’ll guide feasibility, cost planning, procurement, and post-contract reporting while developing opportunities with existing and new clients. The role blends technical cost engineering with leadership of project teams in a defence-focused environment. You’ll work within a cross-functional, hybrid setup and contribute to strategic cost management improvements. This is a chance to shape major programmes and support UK defence outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end Commission Management for large/complex commissions
- Act as day-to-day client interface delivering value-added cost management
- Conduct feasibility studies and procurement reporting
- Apply Value Management with internal specialists where appropriate
- Own and present final cost plans; manage cost planning activities
- Oversee procurement stages from pre-qualification to contract preparation
- Manage post-contract cost variances and change control
- Produce and present monthly post-contract cost reports
- Deliver value engineering and life cycle costing
- Negotiate final accounts and interface with clients/consultants
- Lead a cost management team when required; develop business opportunities
- Identify opportunities to improve cost management procedures and templates
Key requirements
- Qualification in Estimating, Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering
- Experience in the Infrastructure sector (rail, air, power, highways)
- Proven track record in complex estimates and cost models
- Experience in an integrated Project Controls team
- Experience with single-sourced, non-competed public procurement
- Excellent MS Office skills; strong written and verbal client communication
