Overview
In this role you will lead underwriting strategy for the country and manage P&L, partnering with Product and Distribution to drive sustainable growth. You’ll shape portfolio performance, ensure consistent underwriting practices, and act as the single point of contact for DUAs and facilities in Europe. You’ll develop and coach a high-performing team, foster cross-functional collaboration, and align with the broader product and segment strategy. This is a senior leadership role with impact across strategy, data-driven decision making, and market-facing initiatives in Europe.

Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver country underwriting strategies aligned to business objectives, product strategy, and regulatory requirements
- Partner with Product and European leadership to shape and execute the business plan
- Provide underwriting and portfolio insights to support strategic decision-making
- Ensure alignment across underwriting frameworks, pricing, and product development
- Oversee portfolio performance, monitoring, reporting, and actions to optimise profitability
- Maintain underwriting discipline in line with authorities, risk appetite, and regulatory standards
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity used in underwriting and portfolio analysis
- Lead portfolio reviews and recommend growth or remediation strategies
- Drive continuous improvement in underwriting processes, including automation and innovation
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across Distribution and Product
- Incorporate market insights and broker feedback into underwriting and product strategies
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing underwriting team with clear objectives
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture with cross-functional alignment
- Ensure the team understands business plans to support effective decision-making
