Associate/Sr Associate – Projects,Infrastructure & Construction

Overview

In this role, you will counsel on complex construction matters within a leading national law firm’s PIC team. You will handle contentious and non-contentious issues across infrastructure, energy, and real estate sectors, advising on contracts, disputes, and post-contract work. The position emphasizes client relationships, mentoring juniors, and supporting business development. The role offers hybrid flexibility and opportunities to influence high-profile projects and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

• Advise on complex contractual issues with Partner support
• Represent clients in adjudication, arbitration, and court proceedings
• Support energy, infrastructure, housing, highways, and student accommodation projects
• Advise on insolvency issues related to construction projects
• Engage with clients throughout the post-contract process
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Delegate to trainees and paralegals
• Support Partners on tenders and strategic planning
• Participate in business development and contribute to team growth

Key requirements

• 3-6 years PQE in contentious construction law (non-contentious experience welcome)
• Experience with complex construction disputes (delay, disruption, defects, payment claims)
• Familiarity with NEC, JCT, and FIDIC
• Strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills
• Commercial awareness and enthusiasm for business development
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work independently
