In this Principal role within WSP’s Earth & Environment team, you provide expert geotechnical leadership for offshore Oil & Gas projects, guiding site investigations, ground modelling, and foundation design. You’ll manage complex projects, nurture client relationships and mentor junior engineers, driving technical excellence and safe delivery. Your work shapes offshore infrastructure and advances the team’s capabilities in a global, collaborative environment. Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across offshore geotechnical projects in Oil & Gas
• Plan and manage offshore site investigations, including vessel campaigns and lab testing
• Process and integrate datasets to build robust offshore ground models
• Lead design and assessment of offshore foundations (piled, suction caissons, gravity-based, mudmats)
• Offer specialist geotechnical input for subsea pipelines and cable developments
• Act as Project Manager/Technical Lead ensuring scope, budget, and schedule
• Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and client deliverables
• Build and maintain client relationships and identify growth opportunities
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence initiatives
• Promote Safety in Design and a culture of safety, quality and collaboration
• Participate in development initiatives to grow WSP’s offshore geotechnical capability

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline; postgraduate qualifications highly regarded
• Extensive offshore geotechnical engineering experience, preferably in consulting for Oil & Gas
• Proven experience leading offshore investigations and site characterisation
• Strong foundation design and soil-structure interaction expertise for offshore structures
• Knowledge of API, ISO, DNV offshore standards and practices
• Track record delivering complex multidisciplinary projects on time and within budget
• Excellent client engagement, stakeholder management and business development skills
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading project teams
• Future-minded, strategic and collaborative with a drive for innovation and technical excellence
