Consultant in GAP – West Cornwall

Overview

In this role you will provide strong clinical leadership within the West Cornwall Community Mental Health Team and help shape service development. You will balance clinical practice with opportunities in research and teaching to support high-quality care. Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership within the team
• Cover surgeries in Camborne and Redruth and surrounding areas
• Conduct outpatient clinics at The Basset Unit, Longreach Hospital
• Be medically responsible for a defined caseload but not coordinate all care
• Supervise trainees as Clinical Supervisor
• Collaborate with a 1.0 WTE Specialty Doctor and a 1.0 WTE Resident Doctor
• Participate in on-call duties alongside inpatient services
• Contribute to teaching, research and service innovation

Key requirements

• CCT or equivalent in GA Psychiatry
• Experience managing a caseload of community patients with varied mental health problems
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience providing leadership in a multi-disciplinary team
• Knowledge and experience of risk management
• Current UK professional registration
• Desirable: experience across different mental health services; Section 12/AC approval; experience in teaching; audit or research involvement
