Overview

As Safety, Health and Environment Director, you will shape the strategy and standards for an enlarged, multi-site organisation and lead a Centre of Excellence. You will drive a proactive safety culture, enable safe growth, and advise executive leaders on SHE risk, acquisitions and regulatory matters. Expect to lead transformation, integrate operations post-acquisition, and strengthen governance with regulators and stakeholders. This role offers strategic impact with hands-on influence across a large food-manufacturing network.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the Group SHE strategy with clear standards and implementation plans
  • Provide visible leadership for behavioural and cultural change across leaders and ops teams
  • Establish group-wide performance, assurance, incident and risk management processes
  • Interpret regulatory changes and ensure risks are understood and mitigated
  • Advise executives on SHE risk related to business activity, growth, and due diligence
  • Build and lead a high-performing SHE Centre of Excellence and broaden capability across ~130 colleagues
  • Collaborate with governance stakeholders on regulatory processes, insurance risk, and claims management
  • Represent Greencore with regulators and external bodies to enhance reputation
  • Lead environmental aspects of the SHE agenda and support sustainability commitments
  • Role based at Leeds Head Office with travel across UK network

Key requirements

  • Senior enterprise-level SHE leadership experience in a large, complex, multi-site organisation
  • Extensive senior SHE leadership experience in food manufacturing or a closely comparable high-volume, regulated environment
  • Chartered status with IOSH (CMIOSH or CFIOSH) and up-to-date knowledge of legislation
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing SHE strategy, standards and governance
  • Experience leading large-scale transformation, including cultural change and standardization across disparate operations
  • Regulatory processes, risk oversight, insurance risk and claims management experience
  • Credibility to influence executive and operational leaders, regulators and external partners
  • Strong communication, judgement and relationship-building skills
  • Post-acquisition integration experience and environmental/sustainability strategy knowledge (valuable)
