Overview

In this role you will lead and manage a varied Court of Protection caseload within a well-established Swansea team. You will handle deputyship applications, trusts and attorneyship matters, and Statutory Will work, while contributing to team development. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams on compensation matters and ensure clients receive appropriate state benefits and financial management support. Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of Court of Protection matters
  • Prepare and manage deputyship applications (professional and lay)
  • Advise on Personal Injury Trusts and attorneyship matters
  • Prepare Statutory Will applications
  • Advise on Trustee Act 1925 sections 36(9) and 54
  • Prepare annual Deputy Reports for the Office of the Public Guardian
  • Collaborate with PI and clinical negligence teams on compensation matters
  • Support high-value and complex deputyships with senior colleagues
  • Oversee client budgeting, investments, benefits and tax considerations
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members
  • Attend networking and marketing events to support team growth

Key requirements

  • Strong Court of Protection experience (3+ years PQE)
  • Excellent knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and OPG Deputy Standards
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
