Overview
In this role you will lead mechanical engineering design for cutting-edge hydropower and pumped storage projects, delivering outline to detailed solutions within a multi-disciplinary team. You will perform technical audits, risk evaluations, and develop cost-conscious, innovative mechanical designs aligned with client requirements. You’ll collaborate closely with clients and other disciplines across feasibility to detailed stages to ensure timely delivery. Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering design and delivery of project solutions
- Produce outline and detailed design drawings and specifications
- Conduct technical audits and risk evaluations
- Coordinate with other disciplines at feasibility, outline and detailed stages
- Develop cost-effective, innovative mechanical solutions aligned with client requirements
- Support pump and large-bore valve specification and selection
- Engage with clients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely, cost-efficient outcomes
Key requirements
- Chartered or Incorporated status with IMechE (preferred) or working towards
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively
- Experience in design and specification of mechanical systems in an industrial context
- Experience with rotating machinery
- Knowledge of planning, specification, design, procurement and commissioning of mechanical equipment for energy projects
- Experience with pump and large-bore valve specification and selection
- Experience with hydropower applications (advantageous)
- Experience working within a BIM environment; Revit or AutoCAD (advantageous)
