Project Controller

Overview

In this role you will lead financial control for designated projects and bids, acting as the project CFO to drive cost efficiency and reliable reporting. You will partner with bid and project teams to ensure accurate costing, cash management, and financial forecasts, while strengthening risk management and governance. You will influence decision making through quality financial data and proactive controls. This is an opportunity to shape project profitability in a dynamic, engineering-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead as finance owner on bidding activities and validate bid costings against criteria such as currency, rates, margins, taxation, provisions and contingencies
• Collaborate with Bid Manager to determine milestone payment plans for favorable cash position
• Support bid managers with bid presentation packs
• Ensure compliance with Bid Process across bids and projects
• Partner with project managers to meet financial objectives and act as the project CFO
• Regularly review actual costs, commitments and forecasts with project teams alongside the schedule
• Monitor overall project financial health and drive recovery actions (cash, debtors, in-year position)
• Present financial status in management reviews
• Maintain risk register with strong financial linkage and support cross-functional data quality
• Provide management accounting data according to reporting schedules (sales, profit, cash flow)
• Manage customer financial reporting requirements and liaise with customer financial tools for bids and projects
• Assist with internal/external project audits
• Identify and implement process improvements within finance and the business
• Handle ad-hoc requests from team leader

Key requirements

• Proven experience in a relevant finance role
• Experience in a project-related IFRS 15 environment covering costing, bidding and program delivery
• Experience in a dynamic, fast-paced organization
• Experience in Engineering / Manufacturing industry
• ACCA / CIMA / ACA or related degree would be desirable
