Senior Digital Designer

Overview

In this role you shape brand experiences and digital products by blending design craft with AI-enabled workflows. You’ll lead concept development, extend design systems, and push high-quality, accessible interactions. You’ll work across UX, research and development to deliver compelling experiences that balance creativity with technical feasibility. You’ll mentor teammates, contribute to studio growth, and help drive responsible AI adoption that improves client outcomes. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role in a fast-moving studio.

Responsibilities

• Expand and evolve client brands into rich online experiences within design systems
• Lead concept development for digital products from concept to execution
• Use AI tools to accelerate ideation, prototyping, and production, and code with AI assistance
• Identify where AI can genuinely improve client experiences and bring that thinking to the studio
• Collaborate with clients, UX, research, and development teams to ensure vision meets constraints
• Ensure designs are accessible and meet usability and user-centered standards
• Identify and address delivery risks early
• Mentor junior and mid-weight team members and share knowledge across the studio
• Contribute to communities of practice and studio growth initiatives
• Produce work that competes for and wins industry recognition

Key requirements

• Strong craft background in creative design with a portfolio across digital products, brand experiences, and front-end experiments
• Experience applying user-centered design principles to inform design decisions
• Hands-on experience using AI tools across the creative process from ideation to production code
• Solid understanding of design systems, accessibility standards, and technical constraints
• Expertise in design within sectors such as not-for-profit, higher education, and public services
• Strong leadership in managing complex projects, delivering on time and within budget
• Ability to balance creative vision with commercial constraints and budget management
• Experience leading creative direction from concept through delivery across multidisciplinary teams
• Understanding of responsible AI practices including data privacy and copyright considerations
• Portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, AI-enabled workflows, and measurable client outcomes
• Experience mentoring junior and mid-weight UX and research team members
• Experience designing micro-interactions, motion design, and interactive experiences
• In-depth knowledge of accessibility standards and cross-functional collaboration
• Strong presentation skills to articulate design rationale to diverse stakeholders
• Active contribution to practice development and new business growth initiatives
• Knowledge of front-end code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for prototyping and building interactions
• Familiarity with design systems in Figma and modern prototyping tools
• Experience with React and version control (Git)
• Understanding of responsive and performance-focused design principles
