Overview

In this Director role, you will originate, structure, and execute lending transactions across trading businesses and real estate, taking full ownership from initial discussion to credit approval. You will nurture relationships with entrepreneurs, sponsors, and intermediaries while shaping OakNorth’s lending proposition. The role is fast-paced, customer-facing, and impact-driven, with a focus on credit quality and business growth. You will help drive innovative financing solutions that support ambitious UK businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Originate, structure, and execute lending transactions across trading businesses, real estate, and operational real estate
  • Manage and grow existing customer relationships while identifying new opportunities with SMEs, KBIs, advisors, and private equity firms
  • Prepare financial analyses, cash flow forecasts, and credit memos to assess debt capacity
  • Present credit reports and obtain sanctioning approvals, ensuring terms align with credit policies
  • Deliver high-quality credit papers and documentation for approved transactions
  • Drive innovation in the product proposition to enhance customer experience while preserving asset quality
  • Meet team and individual targets set by ExCo, CEO, and the Board

Key requirements

  • Deep understanding of SME lending, real estate, and trading businesses
  • Strong credit, financial analysis, and modelling skills; ability to write structured credit papers
  • Experience analyzing senior, stretched senior, and mezzanine cashflow transactions and presenting to a credit committee
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills; solid grasp of business strategy, banking products, and IFRS 9
  • Degree in Finance, Commerce, or equivalent
