Rotational Program Development Engineer

Overview

Join VIAVI’s 2-year AI RSG rotation program in Stevenage, working across multiple expert teams to develop cutting-edge network-simulation and AI-enabled solutions. You’ll contribute from day one to core platform tech, including a cell-site simulator, REST/React UI, and an SDK, with opportunities to grow into GPU-accelerated and AI/ML work. This role blends research, development, and practical delivery in a cross-functional, Agile environment. You will help transform complex networks into actionable insights, shaping critical telecom infrastructure for global customers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and extend the simulation engine for cell sites, devices, and radio behavior
• Contribute to a REST framework and React-based UI powering the product
• Work on the SDK (ADK) for rApp/xApp development
• Incorporate an AI Expert LLM into the product for queries, scenario creation, and analysis
• Collaborate with experienced engineers to deliver real features from day one
• Build foundation in distributed systems and modern web development
• Explore future work in GPU-accelerated simulation and AI/ML model development
• Engage with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies

Key requirements

• Bachelor in Computer Science / Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering or equivalent
• Proficiency with C/C++, Python
• Experience on Windows or Linux, networking concepts (TCP/IP, 802.11, Bluetooth)
• Experience with software development environments and tooling
• Internship/Co-Op or related project experience
• Strong time management and teamwork skills
• Ability to adapt to new projects and priorities
• Willingness to work on a temporary assignment in another country/location
