Development Manager – East London

Overview

As Development Manager at FirstPort, you will lead the on-site development operations, ensuring high standards of service, safety, and value for money. You will oversee a large, multi-facility estate, align activities with our Four Pillar strategy, and act as the Main point of contact with residents, committees, developers, and contractors. You drive compliance, risk control, and performance against KPIs while fostering a welcoming community environment. Responsibilities

• Oversee service levels and act as FirstPort’s representative to customers, clients, and developers
• Manage training needs and provide coaching to direct reports to meet KPIs and SLAs
• Control costs, prepare service charges, and present financial summaries
• Coordinate meetings with residents associations and manage contractor relationships
• Conduct risk assessments and health & safety checks, ensuring timely corrective actions
• Supervise contractor work and ensure timely delivery of reactive/planned works
• Respond to emergencies and manage out-of-hours inquiries
• Perform regular site inspections and maintain fabric of the building to high standards
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and performance measures

Key requirements

• Operational management experience of a large, complex estate with multiple facilities
• Expertise in health and safety and implementation of new systems/procedures
• Strong people leadership with ability to motivate teams and deliver results
• Financial acumen to set budgets and manage expenditure in line with lease agreements
• Experience with mobilising new developments; collaboration with property developers is a plus
• Ability to engage with residents, committees, and external stakeholders
