Staff Data Scientist

Overview

As a Data Scientist in Wayve’s Experimentation and Product group, you will generate robust, actionable insights to guide product, data, and research priorities. You’ll emphasize experimental and causal inference methods to deliver interpretable findings that drive decision-making beyond black-box ML. You will build analytics frameworks for complex video and simulation data and help define performance metrics for AV2.0. This role blends rigorous analysis with strategic influence in a fast-moving AI hardware–software space.

Responsibilities

• Build frameworks to synthesise video and simulation data to support analytics-driven strategy from product teams to company level
• Formulate and iterate performance metrics for measuring success in AV2.0
• Develop and deploy novel experimental techniques to improve signal-to-noise and speed of feedback
• Combine experimental methods with offline causal inference techniques

Key requirements

• 3+ years experience in Data Science
• Production-level SQL for data-transformation pipelines
• Experience designing robust real-world experiments (A/B) and evaluating test statistics
• Foundations in statistics (distributions, assumptions in frequentist stats)
• Proficient in statistical scripting languages and DS/ML packages (Python: pandas, sklearn, statsmodels, scipy; R: dplyr, caret, stats)
• Ability to summarise, visualise, and communicate findings effectively
• Track record of influencing team direction through findings
• Bias towards deriving actionable insight for prioritisation and strategy
