Principal Civil Engineer (Water)

Overview

In this Principal Civil Engineer role, you will guide projects across the full lifecycle, from planning to detailed design, driving high-quality outcomes for water and wastewater infrastructure. You’ll mentor engineers, collaborate with design leads, and leverage Stantec’s global expertise to deliver innovative solutions. The position emphasizes sustainability, environmental stewardship, and positive community impact within a UK-wide network. You’ll shape projects that reduce sewer overflows and improve river quality, contributing to AMP-cycle agendas. Responsibilities

• Contribute across the full project lifecycle from asset planning to detailed design
• Lead and mentor engineers and collaborate with project design leads
• Ensure successful project delivery and integration of technical outcomes
• Leverage global expertise and technologies to develop innovative, future-ready solutions

Key requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering
• Incorporated or Chartered membership of a relevant institution (e.g., ICE, CIWEM) or relevant experience
• Experience in water and wastewater infrastructure and treatment design
• Ideally, experience leading and mentoring teams to deliver integrated technical outcomes
