Overview

In this role you will manage UK bank relationships within Mastercard’s account team, focusing on operational performance, escalation management, and project-driven delivery. You will act as the conduit between business and technology, enable cross-functional collaboration, and identify growth opportunities while ensuring best-in-class service. You’ll drive operational reviews, analytics, and client communications to support Mastercard’s client-centric growth in payments. This is a hands-on, delivery-oriented position that ties strategy to execution in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Mastercard incremental growth with end-client operational relationships
  • Serve as first escalation point for client operational issues beyond BAU support
  • Coordinate with internal operations to manage client expectations and timelines
  • Conduct operational benchmarking, research, and reporting; lead operational reviews
  • Prepare content for monthly/quarterly client business reviews
  • Communicate Mastercard announcements and assess impact with clients
  • Manage client compliance with Mastercard rules and manuals
  • Identify business opportunities while supporting sales strategy
  • Build strong internal relationships to relay client feedback and requirements
  • Oversee Mastercard project delivery from scoping to implementation with cross-functional teams
  • Ensure timely management reporting for internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactively identify process improvements
  • Lead and participate in client meetings, card scheme management, fraud and processing discussions
  • Facilitate cross-team communications between Mastercard and the client
  • Navigate client organisations and secure indirect resources for delivery
  • Maintain a structured, diligent, hands-on, execution-oriented approach
  • Demonstrate strong communication across multiple stakeholders
  • Maintain awareness of security responsibilities and compliance processes

Key requirements

  • Experience in cards, payments, card scheme management or related fields with understanding of authorisation, clearing & settlement
  • Service-oriented, detail-focused
  • Experience with reporting systems, databases, and data analysis tools
  • Strong team player who can also work independently
  • Knowledge of payments industry evolution and trends
  • Experience as a retail banking or payments professional with broad ecosystem understanding
  • Ability to lead customer-facing and internal meetings; influence and build consensus
  • Capability to coordinate resources across a matrix organisation for delivery
  • Structured, diligent, execution-focused approach
  • Excellent communication across diverse stakeholders
  • Project management skills are a plus
