Data Scientist

Overview

As Economist at Dojo, you identify the true causal impact of pricing, product launches, and other strategic actions. You will tackle challenging questions with limited clean data, safeguarding research integrity and challenging misleading correlations. You’ll work closely with cross-functional partners to tie econometric work to revenue, costs, and churn drivers. This role blends advanced causal methods with scalable data work to inform high-stakes decisions. You’ll be part of a mission-driven, office-first culture that values curiosity, rigor, and practical impact.

Responsibilities

• Frame problems and define scope to link econometric work to key business levers (revenue, cost, churn)
• Design and run experiments, including A/B tests and synthetic controls or staggered rollouts when randomization is scarce
• Apply rigorous modeling (reduced-form and simple structural models) using theoretical grounding
• Build robust metrics and metric trees; write production-quality SQL and Python to shape data at scale
• Communicate complex causal findings and uncertainty in clear, narrative form for non-technical decision-makers
• Lead with AI fluency, using AI tools to accelerate analysis while guarding theoretical reasoning

Key requirements

• Expertise in causal inference (instrumental variables, RDD, DiD, fixed-effects)
• Strong theoretical foundation and ability to reason from first principles
• Fluent programming skills in Python and SQL for data sourcing and shaping
• Intellectual honesty and ability to quantify uncertainty and state assumptions
• Clear communication skills to translate complex findings for non-technical audiences
