Overview

You will lead and shape building surveying services in Exeter within Gleeds’ Built Asset Solutions, driving client relationships, project delivery, and team growth. You’ll manage commissions from instruction to completion, coordinate cross-functional teams, and expand the Exeter offering across the South West alongside the Nottingham hub. The role blends technical leadership with business development to secure opportunities and elevate asset performance. This is a senior, impact-driven position in a collaborative, growth-focused culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of building surveying commissions across built assets and client portfolios
  • Build strong client relationships and identify new opportunities
  • Support growth of the Nottingham office and wider Built Asset Solutions
  • Provide clear, practical advice on building consultancy, asset performance, risk and project delivery
  • Own commissions from instruction to completion with focus on quality, commercial performance, and client satisfaction
  • Coordinate and lead project teams to deliver better outcomes
  • Mentor and develop colleagues to foster a collaborative environment
  • Bring fresh thinking to service delivery and shape a modern, forward-looking building consultancy offer

Key requirements

  • Broad, in-depth Building Surveying experience post MRICS qualification
  • Delivery of building surveying tasks with practical know-how
  • Knowledge of construction methods and materials
  • Knowledge of construction procurement strategies, tendering and contract strategies
  • Ability to administer construction contracts as Contracts Administrator and Employers Agent
  • Understanding of legislation impacting building contracts
  • Ability to motivate others and lead high-performance teams
  • Clear and effective communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent organisational skills and adaptability
  • Problem solving, negotiating, financial and numeracy skills
  • Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements
  • ICT skills with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Fee negotiation to secure profitable services
