Solicitor – Public Law & Human Rights – Bristol – 2+ Years PQE

Overview

In this role you will join a national law firm’s Public Law & Human Rights team in Bristol, handling Court of Protection welfare matters and safeguarding the rights of vulnerable clients. You will manage a personal caseload, supervise juniors, and help grow the department’s reputation. The work focuses on health, care and personal welfare decisions, with an emphasis on justice and collaborative, client-centered outcomes. This is a chance to shape impactful public law work within a respected firm.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload and supervise junior colleagues
• Represent clients in disputes over medical treatment
• Advise on residence and care arrangements
• Handle best interests decisions
• Support Partners and senior colleagues on complex matters
• Build relationships with organisations to strengthen client services

Key requirements

• 2+ years PQE in public law, human rights, or Court of Protection welfare matters
• Demonstrates enthusiasm for this area of law and resilience under pressure
• Can work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
• Committed to securing justice and achieving the best outcomes for clients
• Has a connection to Bristol or the South West region
• Shows empathy, professionalism, and integrity when working with vulnerable clients
