Civil Drainage Engineer

In this role you will provide design expertise in infrastructure drainage for commercial and residential projects, ensuring compliance with current legislation and best practice. You will work within a Bristol team serving sustainability-minded clients at a leading independent consultancy, tackling highway and drainage challenges and contributing to high-quality, build-ready designs. Responsibilities

• Provide design expertise and support across commercial and residential projects.
• Ensure designs comply with legislation, best practice, and council policies to high technical standards.
• Design highway and drainage components and related external works for developments.
• Prepare design packs for outline or detailed planning, tender, and construction stages.
• Work with highway and drainage adoption processes and legal requirements (S278, S38, S104).
• Develop earthworks strategies and perform cut & fill analysis.
• Utilise software to produce accurate designs and documentation (AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Site 3D, Causeway Flow or alternatives).

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering with 4 years of relevant postgraduate experience
• Good knowledge of highway and drainage design
• Familiarity with DMRB and Manual for Streets
• Experience in designing infrastructure for commercial and residential developments
• Experience with S278, S38, S104 adoption processes
• Experience with earthworks strategies and cut & fill analysis
• Experience producing design packs for planning to construction
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Site 3D and Causeway Flow (or MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage)
