Overview

As a Court of Protection Solicitor in Bristol, you will lead the development of a new specialist service within a respected multi-office firm. You will manage a caseload in welfare and financial disputes, advise on capacity and deputyship, and shape internal processes. You’ll mentor junior lawyers and collaborate across the firm to drive a growing practice. The role combines hands-on casework with strategic planning to build a high-performing team that supports vulnerable clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation and growth of a dedicated Court of Protection service
• Manage a caseload of welfare and financial disputes
• Advise on capacity, deputyship, and best interests matters
• Draft and advocate effectively for clients
• Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to internal processes and best practices
• Collaborate with colleagues across the firm to support cross-functional work
• Shape the team’s long-term development and strategic direction

Key requirements

• Around 5 years’ PQE
• Experience in Court of Protection or related areas (mental capacity, healthcare, private client)
• Strong drafting and advocacy skills
• Confident, independent practitioner with strategic mindset
