Compliance and Quality Manager (Telecoms Engineering Company)

Overview

In this role you will lead compliance across the business, shaping governance and ensuring UK regulatory alignment. You will work with senior leaders to embed best practices in safety, information security, quality, data protection, and risk management. You’ll monitor activities, run audits, and manage external advisors and budgets, contributing to a globally oriented technology company. Your work will directly support NEC’s mission to operate securely and sustainably while enabling innovation in telecoms. This is a high‑impact position that places you at the center of strategy and cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead compliance activities across Health & Safety, Information Security, Quality Management, Export Controls, Risk, Legal/Personal Data Protection, and Business Continuity
• Advise the Senior Management Team on compliance issues and best practice
• Ensure monitoring, auditing, and record‑keeping of compliance activities
• Collaborate with the Office Manager on Health & Safety and training programmes
• Manage external advisors and oversee compliance budgets

Key requirements

• Experience in compliance management, ideally across anti‑bribery, data protection, export controls, and ISO9001 quality systems
• Strong communication and people skills to influence and motivate colleagues
• Excellent literacy and numeracy with ability to draft clear policies and analyse budgets
• Previous experience in technology, telecoms, or R&D environment is desirable
• Knowledge of risk management, business continuity, and general business legal matters is desirable
