Senior Software Engineer-AI

Overview

In this role you will design, build, and operate backend services and AI-powered features that underpin Moody’s intelligent data products. You will work within the Digital Content and Innovation team to deliver real-time and batch AI workloads, collaborating with product managers, data scientists, and engineers. You will own features end-to-end, from design to production, and contribute to reusable platforms and responsible AI practices. This is a hands-on position that combines cloud-native architecture with scalable AI solutions to drive measurable business impact.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, and operate backend services and APIs for AI workloads
• Own feature delivery end-to-end from design through deployment and production support
• Build and enhance large language model features using retrieval augmented generation and orchestration
• Contribute to technical designs, reviews, and risk/alternative assessment
• Maintain engineering excellence via automated testing, observability, monitoring, and on-call support
• Apply ML Ops practices including prompt versioning, automated evaluation, and deployment pipelines
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to translate requirements into reliable software
• Mentor engineers, contribute to shared frameworks, and promote responsible AI practices across features

Key requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Proficiency in TypeScript, Python, or C#, with experience building scalable APIs and microservices
• Hands-on experience with AI and LLM-based applications including agents and retrieval augmented generation
• End-to-end ownership of services from design to production
• Cloud-native, serverless, event-driven architectures, data pipelines, and databases (relational and NoSQL)
• Observability tooling, automated deployment pipelines, and on-call readiness
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, scalability, reliability, and security
• Experience mentoring engineers and promoting engineering excellence
• Hands-on AI tool usage to streamline workflows and improve operations; awareness of responsible AI practices
