Overview

In this role you will own the commercial aspects of a residential groundworks project, ensuring cost control, profitability, and contractual compliance from procurement to final account. You will work closely with site and operations teams to support timely delivery and value across civil works such as drainage and roads. The position sits within a contractor known for quality and safety, supporting large-scale residential developments. Responsibilities

  • Full commercial management of a residential groundworks and infrastructure project
  • Prepare and manage budgets, cost plans, and detailed forecasts
  • Measure and value civil engineering works including drainage, roads, and infrastructure
  • Manage subcontract procurement, packages, and accounts
  • Prepare and agree interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Monitor cash flow, cost reporting, and CVRs
  • Work closely with site and operational teams to ensure efficient delivery
  • Identify and drive value engineering opportunities across the project

Key requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Project Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering and/or residential groundworks
  • Strong technical understanding of infrastructure works (roads, drainage, S38/S278/S104)
  • Experience managing projects independently from a commercial perspective
  • Strong contractual knowledge (JCT/NEC experience beneficial)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (HNC/HND/Degree preferred)
