Overview

In this role you will own the end-to-end payroll process for a large, evolving business within the IAG Loyalty family. You will ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll runs, from regular cycles to year-end activities, while strengthening controls. You’ll lead a payroll team, collaborate with Workday experts and finance, and drive process improvements to reduce manual effort. The role sits in the People & Communications team and supports a fast-paced, transformation-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end payroll delivery ensuring accuracy, compliance and timeliness
  • Lead regular payroll cycles plus quarterly, annual and year-end activities
  • Supervise the payroll team with clear priorities and day-to-day guidance
  • Maintain robust payroll controls, reporting and audit readiness
  • Investigate payroll queries, identify root causes and resolve issues
  • Apply UK payroll legislation to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Collaborate with Workday experts to translate requirements into system solutions
  • Partner with People & Finance to deliver a joined-up payroll service
  • Identify recurring issues and simplify processes to reduce manual work
  • Produce accurate payroll reporting and provide insights to stakeholders
  • Coach and develop payroll team members
  • Coordinate with auditors, payroll providers and other third parties as required

Key requirements

  • Strong payroll experience in a medium to large organisation
  • End-to-end UK payroll knowledge including cycles, year-end, controls, reporting and audits
  • Ability to own payroll delivery, prioritise work and make sound decisions within controls
  • Experience supervising payroll staff or providing day-to-day guidance
  • Experience using Workday or similar payroll/HR system
  • Solid understanding of UK payroll legislation and applying it day-to-day
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
  • Organised and dependable with ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
