Education Solicitor – Bristol

Overview

In this role, you will manage a caseload of complex education matters within the Public Law & Human Rights team, supporting vulnerable clients and shaping education outcomes. You will advise on admissions, exclusions, discrimination, safeguarding, and EHCP/SEN strategies, handling both private and public funding. You’ll supervise junior colleagues, build strong client relationships, and share expertise through trainings and articles. Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex education matters, including SEND Tribunal appeals
• Advise on school admissions, exclusions, and disability discrimination cases
• Handle complaints against local authorities and schools
• Conduct Judicial Reviews and UTT appeals
• Provide safeguarding and education law advice to schools/colleges
• Deliver EHCP health checks and SEN strategy advice
• Address community care law linked to education matters
• Work with both privately and publicly funded matters
• Supervise junior colleagues and review case files
• Build relationships with clients, charities and education organisations
• Write and deliver training, seminars, and articles to share expertise

Key requirements

• Solid experience in education law
• Public law or community care knowledge is advantageous
• Ability to work independently on issues
