Construction Manager – Project Management – Energy & Natural Resources (CB)

Overview

In this role you lead on-site delivery of electrical infrastructure projects, ensuring safe, compliant execution across substations, overhead lines, and underground cables. You act as the on-site interface between contractors, client representatives, and the project team, guiding multi‑front construction with a focus on quality and safety. You’ll manage sequencing, subcontractors, and progress against plan on complex energy schemes. This is a hands-on leadership role in a dynamic, client‑focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee programme governance, reporting, assurance, and performance across multiple projects
• Lead day‑to‑day site operations across substations, OHL, UGC, HV/LV works, and associated civil tasks
• Manage subcontractors, site logistics, and work sequencing to meet programme and safety requirements
• Ensure compliance with H&S, CDM, environmental and quality standards, including RAMS, permits, and safety docs
• Oversee installation of electrical systems, ensuring designs and specs are correctly implemented
• Coordinate with Project Managers, designers and client representatives, providing updates and site leadership
• Monitor site progress, report against plan, and escalate risks to maintain programme performance
• Resolve on-site issues proactively, enabling safe and efficient decision‑making in line with client governance

Key requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in construction management, electrical engineering, civil engineering, or related discipline (preferred)
• SMSTS / CSCS / relevant SHE qualifications (advantageous)
• Strong understanding of construction H&S regulations, CDM, and quality processes
• Proficient with site reporting tools (e.g., FieldCapture, FieldView)
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, method statements, technical docs, and installation specs
• Proven experience in infrastructure, utilities, or electrical engineering construction management
• Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure installation (HV/LV, substations, OHL, UGC)
• Experience in NEC contract environments (advantageous)
• Confident in managing multi‑disciplinary site teams and coordinating complex activities
• Eligible to obtain BPSS security clearance
