Regional Head of Health, Safety & Environmental – (Europe, Middle East, and Africa)

Overview

In this role you lead HSE governance and expert support across the EMEA region, driving risk-based decisions and continuous improvement. You will partner with regional leaders to embed HSE excellence into business planning and operations, while supporting audits, training, and system enhancements. Your work strengthens safety, environmental protection, and organizational resilience at scale. The opportunity combines strategic oversight with hands-on risk management and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Provide governance, assurance and expert support on occupational safety, process safety, environmental protection and critical risk management
• Lead technical advisory, system/process development, second-party audits/inspections, training, and coaching to enable successful rollouts
• Drive Global HSE strategy implementation in the EMEA region with regional leadership collaboration
• Offer risk-based guidance, strengthen accountability, manage critical risks, and embed HSE excellence into business planning and growth activities
• Oversee regional critical risks and controls; ensure effective risk management and adoption of best-practice decisions
• Deliver expert HSE support, investigation guidance, regulatory advice, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement through systems and tools
• Support governance by implementing global standards and regulatory/ISO 45001/14001/50001 compliance; coordinate reporting
• Conduct regional HSE audits, assurance and performance monitoring; analyze trends and emerging risks
• Foster regional collaboration, share best practices, and align improvement initiatives with global strategy and standards

Key requirements

• Located within commuting distance of Bath, Leeds, or Manchester
• Experience in operational/field-service leadership in high-hazard industries (engineering, manufacturing, energy, oil & gas, power, chemicals, construction, etc.)
• Ground-up HSE experience with relevant courses or a degree in HSE or engineering
• Travel up to 30% within the EMEA region with independent time management
• Experience partnering with business leaders to drive HSE performance and governance frameworks
• Experience leading incident investigations and applying root-cause analysis
• Experience developing/improving ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems with audit/assurance experience; NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
• Experience using HSE reporting systems and digital tools for risk-based decision-making
