Electrical Shift Engineer

Overview

As a Shift Technician/Engineer, you ensure environmental conditions and critical building systems remain within specification while leading daily operations on a 6am–6pm shift. You will perform planned maintenance and reactive tasks across M&E plant, supervise subcontractors, and manage safety and documentation in line with contract requirements. Your work supports reliable plant operation, timely fault remediation, and data-driven reporting through CMMS and BMS systems. Responsibilities

• Perform routine PPM on M&E plant per site schedules and asset lists
• Address reactive tasks promptly and identify improvement opportunities
• Administer subcontractor work, approvals, and on-site safety
• Operate Permit to Work per BGIS quality and safety procedures
• Repair plant faults and manage spare parts, with timelines for remedial work
• Maintain accurate paperwork and update CAFM systems for reactive/breakdown works
• Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for safe tasks
• Develop relationships with BGIS staff, subcontractors, and client reps
• Ensure safe, clean plant rooms and professional BGIS image
• Supervise subcontractors on site and ensure task completion with safety awareness
• Monitor KPIs and SLAs to ensure performance targets
• Keep CMMS (Maximo) up to date and close tickets with accurate data
• Produce near-miss reports and dynamic risk assessments; escalate non-compliance
• Oversee LOTO checks in line with safety procedures
• Monitor building environment via BMS and maintain acceptable internal conditions
• Complete shift reports to required standards
• Undertake additional site management tasks as directed by Site Management

Key requirements

• Knowledge of Electrical, Air conditioning, UPS, Generators, LV systems with fault-finding using alarm data
• Experience with building management and maintenance systems (Maximo) and BMS
• Ability to work shifts (6am–6pm, continental pattern)
• Experience supervising subcontractors and managing on-site safety
• Ability to prepare and review Method Statements and Risk Assessments
