Data Security Lead

Overview

As Data Security Service Lead, you will establish and own Arup’s Data Security service, shaping its vision, governance, and multi‑year roadmap. You’ll build the team and align security outcomes with the firm’s operations, delivering a measurable data protection program. You’ll translate strategy into practical delivery across governance, classification, DLP, encryption, monitoring and resilience. You will engage senior stakeholders and technical teams to turn data security priorities into real impact, driving continuous improvement in data protection across the lifecycle. This role offers meaningful, cross‑functional work in a collaborative, purpose‑driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Stand up and own the Data Security Service, setting vision, operating model, and success measures
• Develop a multi‑year delivery roadmap covering governance, classification, DLP, encryption, monitoring, and resilience
• Translate security strategy into prioritized initiatives and tangible delivery actions
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders and technical teams to implement data protection across the organisation
• Establish clear governance and drive continuous improvement in data security across its lifecycle

Key requirements

• Deep expertise in data security, including data classification, DLP, encryption, and data lifecycle protection
• Strong knowledge of standards and frameworks (ISO/IEC 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls)
• Proven experience owning or leading a global or enterprise‑scale security service
• Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels to deliver sustained results
• Strong stakeholder management with experience influencing senior leaders and technical teams
