Project Planner

Overview

In this role you will support the planning function for water and multi-discipline projects, acting as a key interface with clients and subcontractors. You will develop contractually compliant schedules, set baselines, and drive change control while mentoring junior colleagues. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team on schemes ranging from 5k to 15m, reporting to the Head of Project Controls and Planning. The position offers hybrid working and a pathway to lead planning activities during the AMP8 cycle.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to improve processes
• Mentor and support less experienced colleagues
• Gather data from multiple sources to develop detailed schedules that meet contract requirements
• Set baselines and support change management and variance reporting
• Coordinate monthly updates from project teams including subcontractors/suppliers
• Lead collaborative meetings with clients and project teams
• Identify and mitigate project risks
• Produce schedule narratives for client review of programmes
• Support tender submissions and project initiation with estimating and commercial teams
• Report project performance to key stakeholders
• In Senior level, coach junior team members

Key requirements

• Familiarity with NEC 3 and NEC 4 contracts
• APM qualifications an advantage
• Experience in Construction Planning with Primavera P6 and MS Project
• Excellent communication in a multidisciplinary environment
• Strong understanding of Project Management principles and best practices
• Understanding of design and construction sequencing
• Water/utilities industry experience
• M&E engineering
• APM project management qualification (or similar)
