Automation Engineer (PLC Programming)

Overview

In this role you will maintain and improve on-site automation and controls systems to support efficient manufacturing. You will work within an established, people-focused company that values development and long-term career progression. You’ll own automation improvements, handle complex breakdowns, and contribute to design/commissioning projects as the go-to automation specialist. The position offers stability, structured reviews, and a Monday–Friday schedule with opportunities to advance as the business grows.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve on-site automation & controls systems (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, frequency drives) in a factory environment
• Assist with complex breakdowns, continuous improvement, and automation-led projects including design, installation, and commissioning
• Work Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:30 with no call-outs
• Support process/plant design and commissioning projects
• Become the on-site automation specialist and contribute to future capability growth

Key requirements

• Siemens and/or Mitsubishi PLC programming experience
• Qualified in an engineering discipline
• Comfortable supporting automation systems on site and communicating within an engineering team
