Senior Project Manager – Flood risk management and environmental resilience

Overview

In this role you will lead delivery of complex flood risk projects, partnering with clients and cross-functional teams to meet objectives. You will shape programs, manage contracts and risk, and mentor junior managers while contributing to the firm’s mission of delivering high-impact outcomes. The opportunity sits within a busy UK regional context, offering exposure to a broad mix of interdisciplinary projects and growth across the flood risk domain.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of projects and programs in flood risk management (including fluvial/coastal risk, erosion, SuDS, nature-based solutions)
• Manage project lifecycle from planning to delivery, ensuring client objectives are met
• Oversee contract management and governance under NEC PSC/ECC forms
• Provide leadership and mentorship to project teams
• Manage finances, project controls and reporting
• Ensure health, safety, quality and environmental management
• Coordinate with clients, stakeholders and partner organisations to build trusted relationships
• Resolve complex problems and translate them into deliverable solutions
• Plan and communicate across multiple work streams, including senior client stakeholders
• Develop teams for large projects and foster a growth mindset

Key requirements

• Experience delivering projects/programmes in flood risk management or environmental sectors, typically 2m–15m
• Practical NEC contract management experience (PSC/ECC)
• Strong leadership and team development capabilities
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication with diverse client groups
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and numerical skills
• Ability to work under pressure and motivate others
• Planning and organizational skills with multi-stream coordination
• Experience managing contractors, consultants and other advisors on infrastructure projects
• Familiarity with public sector environmental/infrastructure contexts
• Delivery experience across development and/or delivery stages
