Principal Engineer – Human Factors

Overview

In this role you will lead Human Factors activities for submarine programmes, shaping safety-focused design across UK sites. You will assess human error risks, perform task analyses, and advise on procedures to reduce risk, while representing HF in design reviews and substantiation activities. You’ll deliver HF inputs to Safety Cases within a nuclear setting and mentor a growing HF team. Responsibilities

• Assess risks of human error and provide Human Factors advice
• Perform task analysis
• Collaborate with process authors to improve procedures and reduce risk
• Represent Human Factors at design technical reviews
• Conduct design substantiation reviews
• Support Safety Case delivery
• Lead Human Factors programmes of work

Key requirements

• Degree in Human Factors/Psychology or equivalent experience
• Demonstrable Human Factors experience
• Experience in delivering Human Factors into safety case in a nuclear setting
• Previous experience of stakeholder management
• Proven experience in coaching and mentoring others
• Experience in writing assessment reports and safety cases
