National Inventory Manager

Overview

In this National Inventory Manager role, you will own the end-to-end inventory lifecycle across a multi-site operation, driving stock availability and capital efficiency. You will partner with Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance and IT to deliver operational excellence and scalable processes. You will shape inventory strategy, optimise stock levels, and lead a high-performing team to improve accuracy and reduce risk. This position offers high impact through cross-functional leadership and exposure to senior stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead national demand forecasting and supply planning with cross-functional partners
• Develop and optimise inventory strategies, reorder points and stock parameters
• Manage inventory across raw materials, finished goods and MRO stock
• Design, implement and improve inventory management processes and controls
• Oversee ERP/MRP/SAP/D365 inventories to ensure real-time stock visibility
• Create KPI dashboards and reporting for data-driven decisions
• Drive stock accuracy via audits, stock takes and compliance
• Collaborate with suppliers and third-party partners to minimise risk and obsolescence
• Identify opportunities to improve service levels, lead times and working capital
• Build and develop a high-performing inventory team
• Support senior leadership with strategic recommendations on performance and cost reduction
• Travel regularly to operational locations across the UK

Key requirements

• Significant inventory management experience in a large-scale, multi-site or matrix environment
• Experience managing inventory across multiple locations
• Strong knowledge of inventory control, stock management and planning principles
• Experience with ERP, MRP and SAP/D365 inventory systems
• Track record of improving inventory accuracy, stock availability and working capital
• Experience developing inventory KPIs, reporting frameworks and dashboards
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex data
• Proven ability to establish replenishment strategies and optimize stock levels
• Experience leading inventory audits and compliance activities
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Strong leadership with coaching and development of teams
