Lead Software Engineer – Platform Engineering – Chase UK

Overview

In this Lead Software Engineer role, you’ll help shape the developer experience within JPMorganChase’s international consumer bank. You’ll design and deliver cloud-native microservices, guiding the full SDLC and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive production-grade solutions. The position offers impact across complex architectures and data-driven improvements, with a focus on secure, scalable software in a modern cloud environment. You will work in squads and tribes to move between projects and contribute to a culture of innovation and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Drive epics with limited oversight
• Improve developer experience by providing tools and infrastructure for agile CI/CD
• Develop, troubleshoot, and deliver secure production code
• Create architecture and design artifacts for complex apps
• Analyze large data sets to drive software improvements
• Identify hidden data patterns to improve coding hygiene and system design
• Contribute to communities of practice on new technologies
• Foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect within the team

Key requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts
• 5+ years of applied software engineering experience
• Understanding of distributed systems and microservice architecture
• Hands-on system design, development, testing, and operational stability
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (Python or other) and database querying
• Knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodologies, application resiliency, and security
• Experience with public cloud in production (AWS) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Ability to design and implement migrations in CI/CD environments
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
• Experience architecting and supporting advanced strategic initiatives
