Family Law Associate – Plymouth

Overview

You will join a Legal 500-ranked family law team in Plymouth, handling sensitive cases across divorce, financial settlements, and child arrangements. You will manage your own caseload, advising high-net-worth individuals and working parents with strategic, empathetic solutions. The role balances autonomy with collaboration in a supportive, growth-oriented environment. You will shape the department through business development and mentoring, making a meaningful impact on clients and the firm.

Responsibilities

• Manage own caseload from start to finish across divorce, financial remedy, and private law children matters
• Handle high-value financial settlements involving assets, pensions, and property portfolios
• Advise on cohabitation issues and nuptial agreements
• Represent clients in domestic abuse cases and protective injunctions
• Advocate in court and ADR/negotiation settings to achieve practical solutions
• Contribute to team development and mentor junior lawyers
• Participate in business development and department shaping initiatives

Key requirements

• Qualified Family Solicitor, ideally at Associate level
• Strong experience in finances and private law children matters
• Ability to run files independently while collaborating with the team
• Advocacy experience is essential; comfortable with ADR/negotiation
• Interest in mentoring junior lawyers and supporting team development
• Experience with complex financial cases involving business assets, pensions, and property portfolios
