Technical Manager – Residential Developer – North London

Overview

As Technical Manager in a North London residential developer, you will lead the technical/design team on multiple new-build schemes. You’ll oversee working drawings packages, coordinate with the architectural team, and liaise with commercial and production functions to keep programmes on track. This role operates as a step up from senior technical coordinator, shaping technical strategy from inception through completion. You’ll drive design quality, compliance, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, contributing to project delivery and company growth.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full working drawings packages across multiple schemes
• Coordinate with architectural, commercial and production teams to ensure on-time delivery
• Lead the technical/design team and liaise with coordinators during development
• Interrogate design information across disciplines and ensure regulatory compliance
• Identify critical paths in project programmes and manage timelines
• Support progression to senior technical management and report to Technical Director

Key requirements

• Residential developer experience (6+ years) on multiple new-build schemes
• Strong knowledge of the development/technical design process
• Experience with RC frame and timber frame construction
• Ability to interrogate design information across disciplines
• Architectural background; AutoCAD is beneficial
• Understanding of Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, and sustainability
• Degree or relevant professional qualification
• Strong communication, organization, and people-management skills
