Overview

In this role, you will lead regulatory compliance across Zopa Bank’s products and operations, partnering with multiple business areas to embed risk-aware practices. You will translate complex rules into practical guidance, advise on promotions and customer communications, and drive compliance-led change to support responsible growth. You’ll work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment, balancing business goals with regulatory expectations. This is a hands-on, autonomous role that shapes the risk culture and supports a customer-centric banking experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert regulatory guidance across products and customer journeys
  • Review financial promotions and customer communications for compliance
  • Act as the compliance SME on business projects and represent compliance in committees
  • Lead the design and execution of compliant, proportionate risk solutions
  • Drive education and awareness of compliance and regulatory risk practices
  • Guide first line teams in risk assessments and promote a risk-aware culture
  • Ensure business operates within risk appetite through appropriate controls

Key requirements

  • Strong understanding of the FCA Handbook and principles-led regulation
  • Proficiency in COBS, BCOBS, CONC and SYSC (DISP desirable)
  • Proven track record in compliance, conduct and regulatory risk in financial services
  • Solid knowledge of Consumer Duty and its regulatory implications
  • Experience leading compliance-led reviews and risk assessments
  • Ability to communicate regulatory requirements clearly to stakeholders
