Lead Legal Project Manager

Overview

In this role you lead and advance Legal Project Management within FutureLaw to drive profitable matters and strong client relationships. You will shape matter plans, budgets, and timelines, tailoring LPM tools to legal workstreams and championing best practices across the firm. You’ll mentor colleagues, develop training, and promote LPM as a catalyst for change and service improvement. This position combines strategic oversight with hands-on delivery in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of matter plans, budgets, timelines, and defined scopes
• Manage matters and outsourcing projects to deliver on time, on budget, within scope
• Adapt LPM tools to specific legal practice areas and lead training on LPM
• Provide guidance to junior colleagues and support the LPM framework operations
• Monitor LPM activity, ensure best practices, and report statuses regularly
• Identify capacity constraints and support resource allocation with Head of LPM
• Support business development and client BD initiatives related to LPM and FutureLaw
• Drive strategy development for LPM, including new service offerings and transformation initiatives
• Champion financial management and pricing for matters to meet budgets
• Oversee client onboarding, proposals, and workshops to embed LPM practices

Key requirements

• Law degree or equivalent qualification
• Project Management qualification (APM preferred)
• Min 5 years in a Project Manager role
• Experience using MS Project and MS Excel/PowerPoint
• Experience managing legal projects independently and across programs
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
• Experience coaching and line managing junior colleagues
• Understanding of legal matter reporting and delivery strategies
• End-to-end experience across varied legal projects (litigation, corporate, real estate, procurement, etc.)
• Change management focus and ability to embed Legal and Tech solutions in a firm
• Experience in legal or professional services environment with project management teams
