Data Consultant Director

Overview

In this role you will lead and shape data-driven strategies for clients, guiding complex transformations and translating data opportunities into business value. You will work across a cross-functional team to deliver measurable outcomes, while also contributing to pre-sales and growth of the Data practice. The position combines strategic advisory with hands-on delivery leadership in a hybrid London-based role, with travel within the UK and Europe. You will partner with senior stakeholders to drive data governance, AI, and modern data platforms at scale.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic advisory and thought leadership to build trusted relationships with C-suite and stakeholders
• Translate complex data opportunities into clear business outcomes, use cases, and investment strategies
• Guide clients through their digital transformation journey and delivery excellence
• Shape and execute data-driven strategies leveraging advanced analytics, AI, and modern data platforms
• Lead high-performing, multi-location teams to design and implement innovative solutions
• Support business development through shaping propositions and services
• Create and qualify new opportunities from discovery to contract signature
• Anticipate sector trends and regulatory changes and translate them into differentiated propositions
• Contribute to account strategies and collaborate with sales to expand footprint
• Define and develop data propositions, frameworks, and methodologies to scale the practice
• Mentor and develop multi-disciplinary teams of consultants, engineers, and AI specialists
• Support career development and skills growth within the practice
• Maintain senior relationship management with sector sales partners, account leads, and CIO/CDO-level stakeholders

Key requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data consulting or a related role
• 7+ years involved in heavy engineering and manufacturing in its broadest sense
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in data-related field
• Experience in a major management consulting firm or in industry with a consulting background in a matrixed organization
• Deep knowledge of data governance, data platforms, cloud technologies, AI/ML, and analytics
• Proven track record delivering Data & AI projects
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with senior stakeholders
• Ability to identify Data & AI opportunities, shape value propositions, and drive growth
• Experience building and managing high-performing teams
• Ability to stay current with evolving data and AI tech landscape
• Quantitative data analysis experience to solve problems
