Overview

As Principal Fire Engineer you will lead complex fire engineering projects across iconic venues and mega-projects, shaping design and safety outcomes. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team to balance functionality with architectural form, driving client outcomes and technical excellence. The role blends project leadership, advisory input, and hands-on fire safety design, with opportunities to mentor and innovate. Responsibilities

• Lead and project manage fire engineering projects
• Inform and support building design aspirations and architectural form
• Own client relationships and project consultancy
• Oversee financial performance and invoicing of projects
• Represent Fire Engineering in design team meetings
• Specify fixed fire protection systems to support design solutions
• Perform and review fire engineering calculations including smoke modelling
• Mentor and review the work of junior engineers
• Contribute to innovation and improvement of methods within the discipline

Key requirements

• Experience as a lead fire engineer on projects
• Higher education qualification in engineering or in a fire safety related subject
• Demonstrable experience delivering fire and life safety designs for UK projects
• Track record obtaining agreement for prescriptive and performance-based designs
• Experience mentoring junior engineers
