Senior Principal Cost Controls Spec

Overview

In this senior role, you will lead cost controls for complex projects, shaping cost strategy and resource allocation. You will partner with the Project Director to apply contract terms, monitor finances, and drive timely EACs and changes. You’ll own change management, risk and opportunities, and ensure robust project controls systems across the program. This position offers impact at scale in a contractor-driven environment and supports the energy transition through disciplined cost management.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project contracts and advise Project Director on application
• Coordinate financial, contractual, and administrative aspects with Project Accounting
• Ensure proper project setup and maintain project controls systems
• Oversee cost and revenue monitoring; prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly reports
• Evaluate and negotiate costs with clients and subcontractors; assist with larger projects via Contracts Manager
• Develop monthly EACs and project close-out reports; maintain accurate records
• Lead Change Management process; manage PROM (risk & opportunity)
• Support bid efforts and liaise with other project controls personnel
• Attend cost, progress, technical, and contractual meetings
• Assist in claims development including back charges; support project accounting in invoices

Key requirements

• 12+ years in project control activities
• Supervisory experience in a matrix environment
• Solid background in oil and gas industry
• Familiarity with Primavera P6
• Experience with project accounting, invoicing, and contract administration
• Ability to interpret contracts and coordinate with stakeholders
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
