Logistics Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design, optimise and implement internal logistics processes to ensure efficient part flow from warehouse to production. You’ll work closely with manufacturing, engineering and quality teams to deliver lineside presentation, kitting and delivery media solutions for launch readiness. You will apply lean principles to remove waste and improve flow in a fast-paced automotive environment, supporting new model introductions and ongoing operational improvements.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimise internal logistics processes from warehouse to lineside to ensure safe, efficient part flow into production
• Define and implement lineside feed strategies that reduce handling touches and improve part presentation
• Develop and maintain kitting strategies, sequencing principles and replenishment processes
• Implement updates to logistics processes and delivery media in response to production changes and engineering updates
• Design, trial and implement delivery media, stillages, trolleys and point-of-use presentation solutions
• Ensure part protection, ergonomic handling and safety in movement from warehouses to production line
• Create and maintain SOPs, layouts, process flows and work instructions
• Maintain logistics master data and system parameters to support routings and movements
• Apply lean principles to optimise flow and support one-touch logistics where feasible
• Collaborate with Packaging, Warehouse and Material Planning to integrate packaging with delivery media

Key requirements

• Relevant professional qualification and/or background in internal logistics in a production environment (Automotive preferred)
• Experience developing ex-works logistics solutions and internal flows across automotive OEM environments
• Essential experience with Kanban, JIT and JIS replenishment strategies
• Experience with Six Sigma, Lean and Kaizen continuous improvement
• Strong process implementation capability
• Familiarity with operating metrics to drive performance
• SAP experience or similar ERP system (preferred)
