Certification Manager – Fire Suppression

Overview

As Certification Manager for fire suppression schemes, you will oversee and develop certification programs for products like extinguishers, blankets, sprinklers and related systems. You’ll manage client certification projects, review standards, and ensure timely, right-first-time evaluations that meet client and company targets. You will collaborate with clients and scheme owners to issue certification across multiple schemes and contribute technical and regulatory input. This role combines project leadership with deep standards knowledge to support safe, compliant fire protection solutions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prioritize and supervise your work to support project delivery
• Provide technical support for contract reviews and correct application setup
• Process certification applications timely and effectively
• Review technical reports and ensure timely conclusions
• Make certification recommendations when owning a project
• Maximise fee-earning project utilisation
• Deliver projects to customer expectations and deadlines
• Provide policy and authoritative input on technical, regulatory and procedural issues

Key requirements

• 2-3 years’ experience in certification or assessment of fire equipment/systems (essential)
• Knowledge of ISO 17065 requirements for certification
• Familiarity with reading and understanding standards
• Experience with BS EN 3, BS EN 1869, BS EN 9251, BS EN 12845, BS EN 671-1 or BS EN 694 is highly desirable
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for varied audiences
• Commercial awareness and general business/principles knowledge
• IT literacy and ability to learn new systems (e.g., BSI Internal Systems)
• Ability to work remotely as part of a team and meet tight deadlines
• Comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels
