AWS Platform Engineer (Software Developer Background)

Overview

In this role you help build and maintain internal and client solutions within Baringa’s Solutions & AI Lab. You will contribute to developer-facing platforms and AI-enabled capabilities, shaping how teams deliver value for clients. You’ll bridge engineering and consultancy, owning parts of engagements and mentoring others. Responsibilities

• Develop and operate production APIs and services from first commit to live running
• Contribute to and extend the Internal Developer Platform (IDP) including Terraform modules, CLIs, tooling, versioning and backward compatibility
• Manage release engineering with feature flags and trunk-based development across teams
• Lead delivery by breaking projects into features and coaching junior engineers
• Design and evolve CI/CD systems and Infrastructure as Code to centralise governance and raise quality
• Build AI platform capabilities: AI gateways, centralised developer platforms, Bedrock AgentCore agents, knowledge bases and memory
• Ensure security by design across modules and architectures with monitoring, logging and alerting standards
• Collaborate with clients and consultancy teams to translate requirements into robust, scalable architectures
• Shaping practice direction and mentoring the team in line with senior leadership
• Support internal B2B solutions and client projects, including managed services and on-client deployments

Key requirements

• 5-7 years hands-on AWS delivery across Platform Engineering, Solution Design and Cloud Architecture
• 5-7 years working as a software developer in Python, Go or Java
• Proven backend development experience with production APIs/services
• Hands-on experience with Internal Developer Platforms, Terraform, CLI tooling, versioning and releases
• Experience with modular CI/CD templates, IaC, and centralized governance
• Ability to design secure, highly available architectures with DR and monitoring
• Interest or experience in AI platform capabilities: AI gateways, centralised AI platforms and Bedrock AgentCore
• Ability to communicate trade-offs and ship decisions to stakeholders
• Willingness to lead engagements and mentor others
