Project Quantity Surveyor – Buckinghamshire

Overview

As Project Quantity Surveyor you will support the Managing Quantity Surveyor in cost planning and commercial management across the project lifecycle. You will engage in interim and final accounts, subcontract procurement, and contract administration to protect margins on highways-related works. You’ll work with site teams to align contract objectives with commercial targets and handle pressures and tight timescales with clear communication. This role offers exposure to NEC3/JCT contracts and opportunities in a specialist civil infrastructure setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare interim and final accounts
• Manage day-to-day commercial and contract activities
• Procurement of Sub-contracts to maximise value
• Sub-contract valuations and final accounts
• Work with NEC 3 and JCT Conditions of Contract
• Prepare Compensation Events/variations
• Input into formal contractual correspondence
• Commercial reporting
• Assist with procurement of professional services for design
• Undertake site measures when required
• Identify opportunities and entitlements within the contract
• Collaborate with site management to meet contract margins
• Operate under pressure and meet tight timescales
• Demonstrate clear thinking and problem solving
• Communicate effectively and stay organized

Key requirements

• Relevant professional Quantity Surveying qualification and/or three years in construction
• Good civils background and awareness of Section 278 and Section 38 (advantageous)
• Knowledge of NEC 3 and JCT Conditions of Contract
• Capacity to prepare and manage accounts and variations
• Site measurement ability
• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Computer literate
• Understanding of HSE building regulations and legal guidelines
